Standard Lens Implant

Standard Lens ImplantMonofocal intraocular lens implants (IOL’s) are standard, meaning they offer vision at one distance only (far, intermediate or near). With monofocal IOL’s there is a very high likelihood that you will need glasses for most near-vision activities after cataract surgery, even if you do not wear near-vision glasses beforehand.  These activities include such things as reading, shaving, reading your watch, and dialing a cell phone.  Medicare and most private insurance carriers will pay for most of your cataract surgery and the monofocal lens implant.  This is considered basic coverage if you have a cataract.
